Evaluating Right On!


  1. Practical Considerations
    Layout / Physical Characteristics
    Interesting? Attractive?
    An appropriate mix of graphics and text?
    Is it clear? Well-organized?
    Effective use of headings?
  2. Content and cultural component
    Topics suitable for 15-year-olds
    Accurate reflection of English culture?
    Free of stereotypes?
  3. Language Related Considerations
    Skills (language and cognitive)
    Does it integrate the skills well? Does it offer a good balance?
    Does it focus on the one(s) it claims to?
    Does it promote higher order cognitive skills? A range of cognitive skills?
    Does it use authentic language? Is there variety?
    Is the grammar section, "Language Watch," easy to understand?
  4. Activities
    Is there a balance between different types of activities?
    Does it promote communication? Is it meaningful?
    Does it allow learners to speak, read, listen and write?
